Former Orlando Pirates and TS Galaxy star Thamsanqa Gabuza is free after his case was withdrawn from the courts.

He hogged headlines in November 2023 after he turned himself in to the police after being accused of malicious damage to property worth R50 000.

THAMSANQA GABUZA’S COURT CASE WITHDRAWN

Police reports have it that he visited his ex-girlfriend on 11 November 2023 and demanded intimacy, but Zikhona Zode refused. However, against her refusal, Gabuza smashed her iPhone, worth R20 000, and her HP laptop, valued at R30 000.

The incident occurred in Sandton. Zikhona reportedly turned to security guards for protection against Gabuza. Against the incident, Gabuza had his first court session on 22 November 2023. However, the court approved the former Bafana Bafana star’s R3 000 bail application.

In January, the court issued a warrant of arrest against Gabuza after he failed to appear in court. The court later heard that he was receiving some medical treatment, which led to the warrant’s cancellation.

On 28 March, the two agreed to an outside court settlement, a ‘mediation agreement.’ However, this forced the court to withdraw the case. Asked if she was happy and aware of the mediation agreement Zode said ‘yes.’

The two were all smiling at the court and were happy with the outcome. The two even shared some lighter moments at the court.

2017 ASSAULT CHARGES

However, the South African can confirm that this is not the first time Gabuza has been dragged to the courts. The police arrested Gabuza in 2017 for gender-based violence. Reports have it that the former Bafana Bafana star abused his girlfriend, Boitshoko Tala.

She opened a common assault case against the former TS Galaxy player. Court papers have it that an alteration ensued after the two argued. Tala alleged that Gabuza manhandled her and took her belongings valued at around R40 000.

Part of Tala’s statement reads, “She managed to push him away, and he took (an) electric iron to beat her, and he was kicking her. She was lying down, he locked his house and drove off. He took her seven handbags, iPad, house keys, iPhone 6, and iPhone 7, and the total value of the items was R40 000.”

However, he is not the first star to hog headlines for the wrong reasons. In 2023, the police arrested Mamelodi Sundowns star Lorch for a similar offence.
